If you are intending to travel to Africa, we recommend you come and speak to our experienced staff. We have travelled multiple times to Africa, and visited many of the countries that make up this vast land of unimaginable beauty and provide a diversity of experiences.

If planning to head off on safari in the Serengeti, Tanzania try the Kubu Kubu tented camp for your stay. Set on a hill overlooking the vast Serengeti, it offers an excellent standard of accommodation. The hotel facilities are brilliant, there is wildlife all around you, and the staff are very friendly and helpful.  All-inclusive of meals and drinks, it is a great base for safari drives and unrivalled wilderness encounters.

A houseboat on the Chobe River in Botswana is a great way to have some downtime during your African adventure. We cruised on the Chobe Princess which was fabulous, and there is a selection of four and five bedroom houseboats. It’s a great experience to float along the river spanning Botswana and Namibia, and see the wildlife both in the river and on the banks. The Chobe River is famous for its elephant population and unlike other parts of Botswana it is green and lush – the perfect contrast to the bushlands.

Victoria Falls Safari Lodge is an amazing hotel! It is built like a treehouse and overlooks a waterhole where wild animals come to drink - there is also vulture feeding at 1.00pm daily. The lodge is a great base just a short distance from the Victoria Falls downtown area, giving you the best of both worlds. Regardless of where you stay in Victoria Falls, take the time to visit the historic Victoria Falls Hotel. It offers fabulous dining options, with views of the Victoria Falls gorge and the bridge between Zambia and Zimbabwe. We had a wonderful meal on the patio of this 5-star hotel and it cost all of $25 each, including drinks! Visiting Victoria Falls is a must for any African holiday.

Whilst in Nairobi, Kenya take time to visit the Elephant Orphanage. They open only in the morning, and bring the young elephants for the visitors to see. The elephants put a smile on everyone’s face, but the reality is that these beautiful creatures are orphans, many of which had lost their mothers to poaching. The Orphanage raises awareness of the elephants plight and assists in re-introducing them back into the wild when this is possible. This is one of the few places where you can get up close and personal to the amazing creatures.

When in Johannesburg, a great half-day tour is to the township of Soweto. Home of Mandela, it explores the history of the town, and the current transformation into the thriving community it is today. All flights between Australia and South Africa go via Johannesburg, so this gives you the opportunity to add another dimension to your African adventure.

A little known fact is that if you book a flight with South African Airways in economy class, you can bid for an upgrade online. Just make your offer online, and you will find out on the day of travel if your offer has been accepted and you have been moved to Business Class.  We can, of course, assist you with all your flight bookings to Africa and can provide full details on how this upgrade bidding can be done.

Another fabulous South African destination is Cape Town, with famous Table Mountain and the many interesting and varied day trip possibilities in its surrounds. We really recommend our clients try and spend four nights in Cape Town if possible, as this will allow time to explore this delightful city, as well as take a cable car to the top of the mountain (weather permitting). You can also get out to the wine regions and to Cape Peninsula, where the Indian and Atlantic Oceans meet.

Most people don’t think of Africa for beach holidays but Zanzibar, an island off the coast of Tanzania, has stunning beaches and beautiful resorts. Surrounded by the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean it is a worthwhile extension to any African Holiday.
